Voice cloning makes a reusable copy of your own voice from a short sample, so every video you generate afterwards is narrated in it. You record once. You never read a script aloud again.
Why not just use one of the stock voices?
Stock voices are good, and thousands of channels are using the same ones. A viewer who watches a lot of short-form has heard them, and a familiar synthetic voice quietly tells them this video was made the same way as the last fifty.
Your own voice does the opposite. It is the one part of a faceless channel that cannot be copied by someone who finds your niche.
What do I have to record?
A short clean sample, once. After that the clone is available to every video you make, in the same picker as the stock voices, and nothing about your normal workflow changes.

Whose voice am I allowed to clone?
Your own, or one you have explicit permission to use. That is not a formality — our acceptable-use policy prohibits using a cloned voice to impersonate a real person or to create deceptive media without that person's consent, and accounts that do it lose access.
It is also the honest answer to why this feature exists. The point is to sound like yourself at scale, not like somebody else.

Do I have to re-record anything when the script changes?
No. The clone is made once from a short sample and then narrates whatever script you generate afterwards, so a rewrite costs you nothing but the rewrite.
Can I clone somebody else's voice?
Only with their explicit permission. Using a cloned voice to impersonate a real person, or to create deceptive media without their consent, is prohibited by our acceptable-use policy and costs the account its access.
